Zizzi Ristorante commissioned me to create two murals for a refurbishment of their Maidstone Restaurant.
The main mural was inspired by the rich agricultural history of the local area. Hop, apple and cherry production have been very important to regional industry and still play a role in the local economy today. The aim was to create a composition of these botanical elements, depicting the rich mixture of wild and harvested fruit and flora found near Maidstone. Part of the process involved overlaying the individual drawings with graphic shapes and vibrant colours, in keeping with the overall colour scheme.
The mural was drawn by hand, using emulsion paint and acrylic paint pens.
